GAA 2021 Cartagena Conference

Dearest GAA Members,

I hope this message finds each of you healthy and in good spirits. Some of you, based on your location, are finding things are getting back to a sort of normality, while others are still in the grips of this pandemic. Wherever in the world you are reading this, I want you to know you are in our thoughts. We have lost some good friends, loved ones and coworkers over these past 15 months, but we continue to push on and provide the level of professionalism not seen from any other group. We are one GAA – a fantastic group of like-minded freight professionals that has not and will not let even a pandemic dampen our fortitude to succeed. I am very proud to be part of this collective unit.

Having spoken to many of you over the past 15 months, I know all of you are eager to get back as soon as possible to group activity. We were optimistic that our Cartagena Colombia conference September 5th to the 8th would go off as planned, however, I am sorry to report we are cancelling this event in an overabundance of caution as the pandemic temperature in South America has not decreased as we hoped. We make this decision with a heavy heart as we never expected to cancel back-to-back events.

In lieu of the Cartagena conference the GAA staff is looking to push back the conference to October/November 2021, with venues in Europe or North America under consideration – locations where vaccines are getting distributed faster and social activities are working back to full capacity. We hope to get back to South America in the coming years as we really need to host a networking meeting in this region.

Please have a little more patience with us in getting something set up for later this year. We realize not everyone will be able to attend and there will be some that simply will not feel ready to come. But, for those of you that are beginning to prepare for face-to-face contact, we owe you a venue in which you feel safe, secure, and within in a market that is easy to travel in and out.

Within the next 30 days we will be announcing our plans for the remainder of 2021. We hope we are able deliver good news but if not, we go to plan B and if needed Plan C.  Again, I want to thank you for your support these past 15 months.  We value the loyalty and dedication from this first class group.
